No one could quite believe a nor'easter was heading out way on October 29th. We obsessed about how unpredictable this was while we ate warm apple cinnamon scones. We thought of places of with warmer climates that we should move to when we moved the snow blower out of the shed. We reminisced about other bad storms while we sorted our mittens, hats, and scarves.
The storm knocked out our power at ten-thirty that night. The four of us had already gone down to the basement room with our sleep things to keep us safe from the falling tree branches outside. The combined weight of the leaves and snow were too much for some of them. The propane fire stove in the room kept us warm all night and the next day. When we woke up the next morning, Matthew took one look at the dropping tree branches covered in snow and said, “The trees walked closer to our house!”
