Thankful

Taking a trip down blog memory lane. This was originally published on Friday, November 27, 2009 as a post called Thankful II

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. We celebrated by baking, visiting family, and mostly spending time together. There was so much that I was, and still am, thankful for.

Chocolate trifle. In the morning, Matthew helped me bake and put together a chocolate trifle to bring to dinner at his great grandparent’s house later on. We layered chocolate cake, whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, brownies, chocolate pudding, more mini chocolate chips and whipped cream, topped off with peanut butter cup crumbs.

Painted hand turkey cards. We made these to give to family.

Backyard football games. Watching Bob and his brothers teach the next generation, aka Matthew, the standing tradition of playing football on Thanksgiving was enjoyable.

Matthew’s scorching eyes during his “concert”. When his great aunt Carolyn nodded off during Matthew’s playing of the out-of-tune organ, he stopped to give her a piercing look. Only when she assured him that she was still listening did he continue to bang on the keys.

Rudolf, the Red Nose Reindeer. After a delicious turkey meal and day of fun, Matthew, Bob, and I watched the movie together before bed.
